Hi Divers
This Saturday sees our annual spearfishing competition and charity fish auction. The weather forecast is for southerlies all weekend but we are going to go ahead and hope for the best on the West Coast. If you want to support a great cause, come along to Splash for the charity fish auction kicking off at 5.30pm.
SPEARFISHING COMPETITION AND CHARITY FISH AUCTION...Saturday 6th March
Register now or before 6.30pm on Friday 5th or from 7am on the morning. $20 entry fee with the first 25 entries receiving a Beuchet competition t shirt. Weigh in 3.30pm to 4.30pm with winners announced at 5pm. Bbq and refreshments from 4pm.
Charity fish auction from 5.30pm with all proceeds going to support Life Flight trust. Come on down and help support a great cause. Competition is both shore based or from a boat, all spearo's must dive in pairs, no scuba. There are plenty of spot prizes so everyone has a chance to win a prize.
DIVE CLUB DIVES THIS WEEKEND
Saturday and Sunday mornings leaving the shop at 10am. We have limited gear available this weekend so if you need hire gear for the club dive, book early to avoid being disappointed.
NO BUBBLES FREEDIVING COURSE NEXT WEEKEND
Join Mike of Oceanhunter for this freediving course. Most spearo's rate this as the best thing they have done and many increase their depth and breath hold times substantially. Friday evening for a class session to learn breathing techniques followed by a full weekend of pool training and sea dives. There are also plenty of tips on spearfishing techniques.
UNIVERSITY MARINE LAB OPEN DAY NEXT TUESDAY
Tuesday March 8th 6pm we have booked a private tour of the Marine Laboratories new facilities. There is no charge for this, just book and let us know you are coming.
SEA WEEK CLEAN UP NEXT WEDNESDAY
Join us to do an on shore clean up, 6pm at Splash Wednesday March 10th. We will be picking up all the rubbish between Owhiro Bay and Island Bay. Bbq at Splash afterwards, let us know if you can help.
POOR KNIGHTS
We have had a last minute cancellation for our Easter Poor Knights trip. Four days of fantastic diving at one of the worlds most famous dive sites. $795 includes accomodation, meals, tank, weightbelt hire, guides and airport transfers if needed.
5M POOL AT KILBIRNIE - SUNDAY 14TH MARCH
Join us for a buoyancy workshop, practise your freediving skills or do a Refresher - whatever you'd like to do really. This is the perfect time and place to play when you can't get in the sea. We'll be in the pool from 9pm - 10pm so give us a call or reply to this email if you're keen to join us.
LERMONTOV WRECK...DAY TRIP APRIL 25TH
These trips have proved hugely popular. Meet at Mana cruising club at 6.40am and head across the Sounds for three dives on the wreck of the Lermontov. $150 plus any gear hire needed.
DIVE LAKE TAUPO - FRIDAY 30TH APRIL - SUNDAY 2ND MAY
Join Karl for 3 dives in the lake and finish with a drift dive down the Waikato River. Drive up Friday lunchtime and head back on Sunday afternoon. $295 includes accommodation (bach style), tanks, most meals and transport if needed. $275 for Dive Club Members. You can also include these four dives as part of your Advanced Course for just an extra $250 (usually $350).
FIJI WINTER ESCAPE - JULY 2010
You can still join us in Fiji to do the famous shark feed at Beqa Lagoon.
