Hi Divers
The weather looks great for this weekend with very light southerlies predicted right through, perfect for the lucky bunch heading to the Malborough Sounds on Saturday morning. We have another day trip planned for next Sunday, see below for details.
Our Emma has headed to Vanuatu to work as a Dive Instructor for a few months and we wish her all the best.

DIVE CLUB DIVES
To keep the weekend club dives to a schedule, we are making a couple of changes. We will aim to leave the shop at 10am, so if you need hire gear you should be at the shop by 9:30am at the latest. This way it's fairer on those not needing to hire gear and they can turn up at 9.45am. The end of scallop season is approaching - Feb 14th so this Saturday's club dive will be a scallop dive.

Wednesday evenings 6pm throughout February
5M POOL AT KILBIRNIE - SUNDAY 7TH FEBRUARY
Join us for a buoyancy workshop, practise your freediving skills or do a Refresher - whatever you'd like to do really. This is the perfect time and place to get ready for your summer diving. We'll be in the pool from 9pm - 10pm so give us a call or reply to this email if you're keen to join us.
LERMONTOV, MALBOROUGH SOUNDS DAY TRIP - SUNDAY 14TH FEBRUARY
We have spaces available for this trip. Leaving from Mana Cruising Club early morning and returning late afternoon/early evening. $150 plus any gear hire needed for two dives on the Lermontov and a scallop dive. This is the last day of the season for scallops!
SPEARFISHING COMPETITION - SATURDAY 20TH FEBRUARY
Register between 5pm - 6:30pm on Friday 19th or from 7:30am on the day. Boat and shore diving permitted. Lots of great prizes. $20 entry fee with the first 25 entries receiving a free t-shirt. Entry fee includes bbq and refreshments. Weigh in from 3:30pm - 4:30pm. BBQ at 5pm and Fish Auction from 5:30pm. All proceeds going to Life Flight Trust.
GIRLS (ONLY) NIGHT OUT
We're going out again to wine and dine and the planned night is Wednesday 24th February. Let us know if you're keen and if you have any suggestions on where to go.
GOODBYE DINNER FOR ABI - FRIDAY 26TH FEBRUARY
Join us in saying goodbye to Abi who is leaving us to continue with her diving career. We'll start off with drinks somewhere in town and then head off to a BYO. We will need to book so let us know if you're keen - and if you have any suggestions.
CHILDRENS SNORKELLING COURSES
In conjunction with Island Bay Marine Education Centre, we are running childrens snorkelling courses for 8 to 14 year olds. Perfect for the less experienced snorkeller. $99 includes a pool session, a sea dive in the marine reserve, all equipment and a donation to the Centre. Sunday February 28th 4pm to 6pm pool session, Saturday February 6th for the sea dive. We plan to run more of these programmes throughout summer.
ONSHORE BEACH CLEAN UP - WEDNESDAY 10TH MARCH
As part of Sea Week, we will be running an on shore cleanup on March 10th, meeting at Splash 6pm. We will be focusing on the area between Owhiro Bay and Island Bay and doing a count of cigarette butts picked up in this area to highlight the problem. BBQ at the shop afterwards, register now.
DIVE KAPITI - SATURDAY 13TH MARCH
Join us for one dive inside and one dive outside the Marine Reserve. Leaving from Kapiti Boating Club at 9am. $100 for two dives, $120 including tanks & weights, $140 including full gear hire.
OCEANHUNTER NO BUBBLES FREEDIVING COURSE - FRIDAY 12TH - SUNDAY 14TH MARCH
The guys from Ocean Hunter are coming down again to run their popular freediving course. A Friday evening of introductions and theory, followed by a weekend of pool training and sea dives covering techniques to help get you more bottom time and deeper dives. They also include a lot of information specifically to do with spearfishing. Cost is $430 and a $50 deposit wil secure your place. This course fills, so book now.
POOR KNIGHTS - EASTER WEEKEND
We have one space available on this great liveaboard trip. Leaving Tutukaka Marina on Friday 2nd April and returning Monday 5th April. Stay onboard the night before at no extra charge. $795 includes all meals while on charter, airport transfers to and from Whangarei if needed and 5 nights accommodation. DIVE LAKE TAUPO - FRIDAY 30TH APRIL - SUNDAY 2ND MAY
Join Karl for 3 dives in the lake and finish with a drift dive down the Waikato River. Drive up on Friday lunchtime and head back on Sunday afternoon. $295 includes accommodation (bach style), tanks, most meals and transport if needed. $275 for Dive Club Members. You can also include these four dives as part of your Advanced Course for just an extra $250 (usually $350).
FIJI WINTER ESCAPE - JULY 2010
You can still join us in Fiji to do the famous shark feed at Beqa Lagoon. Our package includes 10 dives, four of which are shark feeding and 6 reef dives. 8 nights accommodation in a deluxe room at Lagoon Resort, return airfares from Auckland, transfers and insurance for just $2895 for divers and $2205 for non divers.
